Roof Moss & algae removal

The first step to beating moss on roof tiles is to get rid of any moss that has already accumulated. This is done by firstly scraping the tile and secondly brushing any remaining parts from the top of the roof downwards.

Here at Efficlean the entire process of moss removal is done dry. Many people think power washers are the best option for dealing with moss on tiles but this has some really serious potential issues. Firstly, the tiles on the roof could be damaged, as could other roofing materials. Secondly, the force of the power washer could actually break through the protective membrane under the roofing material and flood your LOFT and thirdly, the mess!!

After this a biodegradable soap moss remover is sprayed straight onto the roof. This kills off any remaining moss spores whilst acting as a growth inhibitor for upto 3 years.

The solution is left to dry which reactivate over time during wet weather.

Finally all gutters are cleaned out using a high reach vacuum and camera system to ensure no blockages.

Copper strip

By applying a strip of copper along or close to the ridge of the roof it will create a copper sulphide which is caused by rainwater passing over the copper. As the copper corrodes the sulphide pours down the roof killing any spores that have attached and coats the tile with a further inhibitor.

Dependant on the height of the roof pitch it may be neccessary to add a further strip halfway down the roof.

This is an environmentally friendly way to remove future moss growth due to the natural material used, the recyclability of copper and the constant reactivation when introduced to water.
